Course Overview

The Agile Transformation & Hybrid Delivery Adoption Training Course equips transformation leaders, PMO heads, portfolio and delivery managers, and senior managers with the knowledge and practical tools needed to lead the adoption of agile ways of working and hybrid delivery models across the organization, in a way that fits its context, governance requirements, and culture. In government entities, ministries, public authorities, banks, healthcare systems, energy and utility companies, telecommunications, and large corporations, leaders increasingly seek faster delivery, greater responsiveness to customers and citizens, and better management of uncertainty in digital and transformation initiatives. Agile and hybrid approaches can deliver these benefits, but only when they are adopted thoughtfully rather than imposed as a set of rituals. Many agile transformations fail to produce lasting improvement. Organizations may introduce ceremonies, roles, and tools without changing how work is funded, prioritized, governed, and led, resulting in agile teams operating inside traditional structures that slow them down. Some organizations attempt to apply agile methods to every type of work, while others remain rigidly predictive even for highly uncertain initiatives. Procurement, contracting, audit, compliance, and financial control processes may conflict with iterative delivery, managers may be unsure of their new roles, and success may be measured by the number of teams trained rather than by improvements in outcomes. In highly regulated and public sector environments, leaders often need practical hybrid models that combine adaptive delivery with the governance and accountability they require. This course provides a structured, practical approach to agile transformation and hybrid delivery adoption. Participants learn agile values and principles, the business case for agility, and how to assess the organization's current agility and readiness. The program covers selecting and tailoring delivery approaches for different types of initiatives, designing hybrid delivery models that combine predictive governance with iterative and incremental delivery, and understanding widely used team-level and scaling frameworks and their suitability for different contexts. Participants then learn how to adapt governance, funding, and portfolio management to support agility, including lean portfolio approaches, value stream thinking, outcome-based planning, and adaptive stage gates, as well as how to address procurement, contracting, audit, and compliance in agile and hybrid environments. The course also addresses roles and team structures, including product owners, delivery leads, agile coaches, and the evolving role of project managers and the PMO, leadership behaviors and culture, measuring agility with outcome and flow metrics, designing the transformation approach through pilots, coaching, communities of practice, and scaling, avoiding common pitfalls, and developing a practical agile and hybrid adoption roadmap. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with case studies from public and private sector agile transformations, delivery approach selection exercises, hybrid model design workshops, governance redesign exercises, and the development of an adoption roadmap for the participant's organization. Participants leave with an agility and readiness assessment, a delivery approach selection and tailoring guide, a hybrid delivery model template, an agile governance and funding design checklist, an agile procurement and contracting considerations guide, a roles and responsibilities framework, an agility metrics dashboard design, and an agile and hybrid adoption roadmap.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze agile values and principles, the business case for agility, and the common reasons agile transformations fail on Day 1.
  • Assess the organization's current agility, delivery maturity, culture, and readiness for agile and hybrid adoption.
  • Select and tailor predictive, agile, and hybrid delivery approaches based on the characteristics, uncertainty, and constraints of different initiatives.
  • Design hybrid delivery models that combine predictive governance and planning with iterative and incremental delivery.
  • Evaluate widely used team-level and scaling agile frameworks and assess their suitability for the participant's context.
  • Adapt portfolio management, prioritization, funding, and planning to support agility, including lean portfolio and value stream approaches and outcome-based planning.
  • Redesign governance and stage gates to provide oversight and accountability without undermining iterative delivery.
  • Address procurement, contracting, audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements in agile and hybrid environments.
  • Define roles and team structures, including product owners, delivery leads, agile coaches, project managers, and the agile PMO.
  • Apply leadership behaviors and cultural enablers that support agile ways of working and psychological safety.
  • Measure the impact of agile adoption using outcome, value, flow, and quality metrics rather than activity measures.
  • Develop an agile and hybrid adoption roadmap, including pilots, coaching, communities of practice, scaling, and continuous improvement, by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for transformation leaders, PMO heads and managers, portfolio and programme managers, delivery managers, and agile coaches responsible for leading or supporting the adoption of agile and hybrid ways of working. It is also highly relevant for IT and digital leaders, product managers, business unit managers, project managers transitioning to agile or hybrid roles, and governance, finance, procurement, audit, and risk professionals whose processes must adapt to support agile delivery. It is particularly valuable for professionals in ministries, government entities, and public authorities introducing agile and hybrid approaches to digital government and transformation initiatives within public sector governance frameworks; in banks and financial institutions adopting agile delivery within regulatory expectations; in healthcare systems modernizing digital services; and in energy, utilities, telecommunications, and large corporations pursuing faster, more customer-focused delivery. Senior executives and sponsors who lead or fund agile transformation will also benefit from the course.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the principles of agility and why agile transformations succeed or fail.
  • Assess their organization's readiness for agile and hybrid delivery.
  • Choose the right delivery approach for each type of initiative.
  • Design practical hybrid models suited to their governance environment.
  • Compare agile frameworks and select what fits their context.
  • Align funding, prioritization, and portfolio management with agile delivery.
  • Adapt governance and stage gates to support iterative delivery.
  • Work with procurement, audit, and compliance to enable agile and hybrid delivery.
  • Clarify roles for product owners, project managers, coaches, and the PMO.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors that enable agile teams.
  • Measure agility through outcomes and flow rather than activity.
  • Build and lead a realistic agile and hybrid adoption roadmap.
