Course Overview

The Advanced Strategies in Facility Management Training Course equips experienced facility managers, heads of facilities and asset management, and senior operations leaders with the strategic frameworks, tools, and leadership capabilities needed to move facility management from a reactive, cost-focused function to a strategic contributor to organizational performance, user experience, sustainability, and asset value. In government entities, ministries, public authorities, banks, healthcare systems, universities, airports, commercial and mixed-use portfolios, and large corporations, facilities represent one of the largest cost bases and have a direct impact on safety, compliance, productivity, and reputation. Senior facility leaders are increasingly expected to set strategy, manage large budgets and outsourced providers, apply data and technology, deliver sustainability and net zero goals, and demonstrate value to executives and boards. The course addresses facility management at a strategic and advanced level. Participants learn to develop a facility management strategy aligned with organizational objectives, operating model options including in-house, outsourced, and hybrid delivery, and the integration of hard and soft services, workplace, and real estate. The program then addresses strategic asset and maintenance management and lifecycle planning, performance and value management through key performance indicators, service levels, and benchmarking, procurement and strategic management of service providers and contracts, and facility management budgeting, cost optimization, and total cost of ownership. Participants also examine smart buildings, computer-aided facilities management, building information modelling for operations, and data-driven facility management, energy management, sustainability, ESG, and net zero in facilities, workplace strategy, user experience, and space optimization, risk, resilience, business continuity, health, safety, and compliance at a strategic level, change management and leadership of facility management teams, and measuring and communicating the strategic value of facility management. The course is delivered through strategy development workshops, operating model and sourcing analysis, performance and cost optimization exercises, and case studies of leading facility management practice. Participants leave with a facility management strategy framework, an operating model and sourcing decision tool, a performance and value scorecard, a sustainability and cost optimization checklist, and a facility management transformation roadmap template.
