Course Overview

The Supply Chain Project Management Training Course equips supply chain, procurement, logistics, and project professionals with the methods and practical tools needed to plan, execute, and deliver supply chain projects and to manage the supply chain that supports capital projects. Organizations in government, oil and gas, petrochemicals, utilities, manufacturing, retail and distribution, healthcare, and logistics continually invest in supply chain improvement and transformation, including network redesign, new warehouses and distribution centers, warehouse automation, transportation and fleet changes, warehouse, transportation, and enterprise system implementations, procurement transformation, and logistics outsourcing. At the same time, major capital projects depend on effective procurement, expediting, logistics, and materials management to stay on schedule. These projects often fail to deliver expected benefits because of weak business cases, cross-functional misalignment, disruption to daily operations, vendor problems, and poor change management. The course covers supply chain project management from initiation to benefits realization. Participants learn the types and characteristics of supply chain projects, how to build business cases based on service levels, inventory, cost-to-serve, and resilience, and how to manage cross-functional stakeholders. The program then addresses scope definition, work breakdown, scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, and risk management for supply chain projects, selection and contracting of technology vendors, logistics service providers, and contractors, and execution of facility, automation, and technology projects, including design, data migration, testing, cutover, and go-live without disrupting operations. Participants also examine the project supply chain for capital projects, including procurement planning, long-lead items, expediting, inspection, project logistics, customs, and site materials management, and conclude with change management, supply chain performance measurement, benefits realization, governance, and lessons learned. The course is delivered through supply chain project case studies, business case and planning workshops, vendor evaluation exercises, cutover and go-live simulations, and capital project materials planning exercises. Participants leave with a supply chain project business case template, a supply chain project plan and risk register template, a vendor and logistics provider evaluation matrix, a cutover and operational continuity checklist, and a project procurement and expediting tracker.
