Course Overview

The Procurement Analytics, KPIs & Performance Dashboards Training Course equips procurement managers, category managers, procurement analysts, and procurement performance teams with the practical skills needed to turn procurement data into reliable insight and better decisions. Procurement leaders are asked to show where money is spent, what the function has saved, how suppliers are performing, and whether policies are being followed, yet the data needed to answer these questions is often scattered across systems, inconsistently classified, and reported in ways that few people trust. The course focuses on procurement performance itself rather than on general supply chain dashboards or on applying AI tools in purchasing. Participants learn to build a spend cube from purchase orders, invoices, and contracts; classify spend with a clear taxonomy; and analyze it by category, supplier, business unit, and contract coverage. They then define a balanced set of procurement KPIs covering cost, compliance, process efficiency, supplier performance, and risk, and they learn how to measure savings and cost avoidance in ways that finance will accept. Dashboards bring the work together. Participants design dashboards for different audiences, from executives who need a few headline measures to category managers who need detail, and they learn to choose clear charts, set targets and thresholds, and avoid visuals that mislead. Data quality, supplier master data, data governance, and the routines that turn reports into actions complete the scope. The methods work with the spreadsheet and business intelligence tools participants already use, and no programming experience is required. The course is delivered through a realistic procurement data set, spend classification exercises, KPI design workshops, dashboard building and critique, and a final workshop. Participants leave with a spend taxonomy, a procurement KPI framework with definitions, a savings measurement method, a supplier scorecard, and a dashboard design they can adapt to their own organizations.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the role of analytics in procurement decisions and in reporting procurement value.
  • Identify procurement data sources and assess their quality, completeness, and consistency.
  • Build a spend cube that combines purchase orders, invoices, contracts, and supplier data.
  • Classify spend using a clear taxonomy that supports category management.
  • Analyze spend by category, supplier, business unit, and contract coverage to find opportunities.
  • Detect off-contract spend, supplier fragmentation, and price variance between buyers.
  • Define a balanced set of procurement KPIs with precise definitions, owners, and data sources.
  • Measure savings and cost avoidance with rules that finance can verify.
  • Track process efficiency across the procure-to-pay cycle, including cycle times and exceptions.
  • Build supplier scorecards that combine delivery, quality, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Design dashboards suited to executives, category managers, and buyers.
  • Set targets, thresholds, and review routines that turn reports into actions.
  • Establish data governance for procurement data, including supplier master data.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for procurement managers, category managers, procurement analysts, procurement performance and reporting staff, and buyers who prepare or use procurement reports and want them to support better decisions. It is equally relevant for supply chain and contracts managers, finance business partners who validate procurement savings, internal auditors who review procurement compliance, and business intelligence staff who build reports for procurement teams. Heads of procurement who present results to executive committees will also benefit. Professionals in ministries and government entities, state-owned enterprises, oil and gas, utilities, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, and large private companies will find the course directly applicable. Working knowledge of spreadsheets is helpful; no programming background is required. It is particularly valuable for procurement functions setting up a performance office or a KPI framework for the first time, and for teams whose current reports are questioned by finance or senior management.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Assess the quality of procurement data and plan the cleansing and coding fixes it needs.
